The Alchemy of Feminine Leadership

For women committed to leadership, liberation, and the ongoing practice of becoming.
Leadership often asks us to carry a great deal—responsibility, uncertainty, expectations, histories, relationships, and the needs of the people and communities we serve.Â
In this way, leadership asks us to create conditions, remain nimble, practice iteration, and design for regeneration.
And as we know, strategy matters. Strategy is an intentional approach for moving toward a desired outcome by making choices about where to focus, how to act, and how to respond to changing conditions.
Importantly, strategy is different from a plan. A plan can specify what we intend to do; strategy provides the logic that helps us decide what to do when circumstances shift.
We are generally well-skilled at seeking to know how. We ask good questions. We facilitate research and analyze data.Â
But there’s another critical thing that leadership asks of us: Who must we become?
Who must we become?
A leadership practice of becoming requires something specific of us. Alongside asking what to do and how to do it, we begin asking: Who might I need to become?
Strategy can be understood as a practice of discernment under conditions of uncertainty. It asks:
Given what we know now, what are we trying to make possible, what conditions can we create, and what choices will move us toward it?
Strategic being gives us an orientation sturdy enough to guide action and responsive enough to change as we learn.
It requires deep listening for:
- What is this moment asking of me?
- What needs to be retrieved, released, or reconciled?
- Where does my agency live now?
- What is trying to emerge?
These are questions that orient us to notice what may be less apparent.
Context
The Alchemy of Feminine Leadership is a three-week group coaching experience with Drisana McDaniel for women who want to explore these questions in relationship to their work, leadership, and lives.
The experience grows from Drisana’s Alchemy of Now framework, her work facilitating Hush Harbor, and her practice at the intersections of contemplative inquiry, healing, liberation, and ontological coaching.
Alchemy of Now begins with the understanding that transformation does not happen somewhere in the future. The conditions for transformation are already present in the now.
Across three gatherings, participants will explore how slowing down with discernment can activate new ways of meeting uncertainty and thresholds in life and leadership with awareness, possibility, and a deeper capacity to choose and respond.
We will explore the idea of our edge as the threshold where what the moment requires encounters who I have been—and creates the possibility of who I might become.
The Three-Week Journey
Week One — Retrieval
We begin by slowing down and listening to what is present. Participants will explore the histories, experiences, identities, and ways of knowing that have shaped how they lead. Retrieval invites us to notice what may have been forgotten, silenced, or left behind—and what is asking to be brought forward again.
Week Two — Agency
Leadership often means encountering conditions we did not choose. Through agency and response-ability, participants will explore their capacity to meet those conditions with greater awareness, intention, and choice. We will bring real questions from leadership and life into the coaching space to consider what different responses might now be possible.
Week Three — Emergence
Our final gathering turns toward emergence and what may already be taking shape. Participants will explore what leadership might look like when grounded more deeply in agency, wholeness, relationship, and liberation. We close by considering the practices, commitments, and inquiries participants want to carry forward.
The Experience
Each gathering combines group coaching, contemplative practice, reflective inquiry, and mutual witnessing. It is a space to slow down enough to encounter what is already present—to listen differently, recognize choice, and explore what might become possible from there. Participants will also receive reflection practices between gatherings to continue engaging the work in their everyday lives.
Who This Is For
This experience is for women who are:
- Leading organizations, teams, communities, projects, or bodies of work
- Navigating change, transition, responsibility, or uncertainty
- Interested in leadership grounded in liberation and wholeness
- Questioning ways of working or leading that no longer feel sustainable
- Seeking greater agency in how they meet the demands of their work
- Longing for a reflective community that values presence, honesty, care, and meaningful relation
Some Questions We Will Explore
Across the three weeks, we will hold a set of questions that move from retrieval, through agency, and toward emergence:
- What am I carrying into this moment?
- What part of myself or my knowing needs to be retrieved?
- What becomes possible when I allow myself to lead from greater wholeness?
- Where does my agency live in this moment?
- What am I responsible for—and what am I ready to release?
- What different response might now be available to me?
- What is trying to emerge through my leadership?
- What might liberation ask of me now?
- What practice, commitment, or inquiry am I ready to carry forward?
