Meeting This Moment

We are living in a time of profound disruption—political volatility, societal shifts, climate instability, technological acceleration, and deep social divisions. For leaders, educators, and change agents, these realities demand more than just skill-building. They require a deeper transformation: the capacity to adapt with discernment, sustain vitality, and lead with a steady heart.

The Capacity-Building in Times of Change Certificate Program is a four-week immersive professional and personal development experience for leaders, practitioners, and educators who want to navigate complexity while fostering cultures of care, resilience, and innovation.

Drawing from the Acosta Institute’s consulting with companies and research on capacity-buiding—this program equips participants to meet disruption with endurance, creativity, vitality, and purpose.

Program Structure

The Certificate Program unfolds over four weeks through a blend of:

  • Pre-work including articles and podcasts
  • Live sessions for practice, dialogue, and integration
  • Optional community processing spaces for peer learning and support
  • Comprehensive workbooks with prompts, resources, and reflection tools
  • A curated digital dashboard housing all learning materials, recordings, and a resource library

Learning Modules

Building the Capacity for What?

Identify personal, interpersonal, and organizational needs through the Matrix of Needs Methodology. Clarify intentions, set outcomes, and begin practicing somatic awareness as a guide for decision-making. Assess the potential costs of inaction, the barriers to building capacity, and the antidotes that can counteract stagnation, reactivity, and depletion.

Navigating Disruption & Collective Wisdom

Engage in embodied reflection and collective inquiry to navigate the disruptions shaping your leadership and community work. Through case studies, dialogue, and lived examples, examine the complexity of our times and the paradoxes that arise when holding multiple truths. Reflect on your patterns, notice what’s shifting, and begin to apply capacity-building practices in real-time. This module invites participants to be in community as they grapple with uncertainty—gathering insights, wisdom, and clarity from shared experience and peer learning.

Vitality and Healing-Centered Leadership

In this session, Dr. Justis Lopez will guide participants through an immersive exploration of the V.I.T.A.L.I.T.Y. framework—Values, Identity, Thriving, Ancestry, Leadership, Impact, Transforming You—as both a personal practice and a collective leadership strategy. Drawing from storytelling and healing-centered pedagogies, participants will explore how meeting universal human needs fuels both wellness and sustainable leadership. Together, we will map the intersections between vitality and healing-centered leadership, identifying each person’s “vitality zones” and uncovering strategies to sustain energy, joy, and purpose even in the midst of disruption. Participants will leave with concrete tools to integrate restorative practices, wellness rituals, and needs-based leadership approaches that can inspire, protect, and transform themselves and the communities they serve.

Learning & Action

Integrate new skills, establish ongoing support structures, and create environments where capacity begets capacity. Develop concrete action plans for embedding these practices into your leadership, organization, or community. Learn to evaluate capacity-building through the lens of long-term organizational purpose and collective well-being.
