Heba Ghanem
Heba Ghanem is a math educator, lifelong learner, and former pharmacist whose teaching philosophy centers on curiosity, connection, and the joy of problem-solving. Currently based in Michigan, she brings an imaginative and human-centered approach to teaching math—one that honors both logic and wonder. Guided by the belief that mathematics is a universal language of freedom and creativity, Heba strives to help students experience math not as a barrier but as a bridge, something that invites play, discovery, and confidence.
Her journey from pharmacy to the classroom reflects a profound commitment to lifelong learning and to meeting students where they are. She sees herself as both witness and participant in the evolution of learning, especially as technology reshapes how students engage with math. For Heba, the classroom is not just a place for solving equations, but for cultivating empathy, resilience, and curiosity.
Through the Acosta Institute Fellowship, Heba hopes to deepen her practice of healing-centered education and explore new ways to integrate reflection, technology, and community into her teaching. She is drawn to the fellowship’s slow, intentional pace and its focus on authentic learning communities. Above all, she hopes to nurture spaces where students and teachers can rediscover the simple, shared joy of learning together.
