Roni Jones
Roni Jones has spent much of her career creating collaborative spaces where youth, families, educators, and community members can come together as active partners in shaping change. Her work focuses on building environments where people feel welcomed, valued, and essential to the process—not simply participants, but co-creators. Over time, she has developed a strong ability to bring people into meaningful dialogue and connection, helping groups move forward together in ways that feel both productive and human.
Over the past decade, Roni has witnessed profound shifts in the social and political landscape—from the turbulence surrounding the 2016 U.S. election to the deep disruptions of the pandemic. These moments have surfaced long-standing tensions and challenged the way communities relate to one another. Through it all, she has remained committed to the belief that lasting change requires more than technical solutions; it requires emotional honesty, vulnerability, and a willingness to repair harm. Her work increasingly centers on building bridges through healing and peace rather than settling for compromise that leaves people disconnected or unheard.
Through the Acosta Institute Fellowship, Roni hopes to deepen this work by exploring how creativity, curiosity, and joy can guide the difficult but necessary process of healing past trauma and addressing injustice. She enters the Fellowship with a reflective spirit and a commitment to learning alongside others, seeking new ways to cultivate spaces where meaningful change can emerge through connection, courage, and collective care.
