Oswaldo MontoyaĀ
Oswaldo Montoya is a Nicaraguan-born educator, facilitator, and consultant whose work bridges gender equality, human rights, and collective healing. For more than two decades, he has led community education and advocacy efforts focused on transforming harmful social norms and promoting care, compassion, and justice across cultures. Now based in Maryland, Oswaldo continues to design spaces for reflection, learning, and action—inviting people to connect with their purpose and reimagine leadership through empathy and shared responsibility.
His work is shaped by his early experiences in Nicaragua during times of political conflict, which deepened his lifelong commitment to peace, justice, and spiritual growth. A trained Purpose Guide and Vision Quest practitioner, Oswaldo brings an integrative approach to personal and collective transformation, blending nonformal education with contemplative and experiential practices. His facilitation work often centers themes of healthy masculinity, anti-racism, parenting, and restorative leadership, encouraging participants to lead from within.
Through the Acosta Institute Fellowship, Oswaldo hopes to deepen his healing-centered leadership practice and connect with a community of like-minded practitioners committed to justice and transformation. He is drawn to the Fellowship’s emphasis on slowing down, learning together, and building meaningful relationships grounded in care for one another, for the Earth, and for the future we are all shaping.
