Natalie Ward
Natalie Ward is an educator and Somatic Experiencing practitioner in training based in Barbados, whose work centers on supporting healing and emotional resilience in young people. Her path into this work began through her own lived experience with trauma, which led her to explore Somatic Experiencing as a powerful modality for understanding how the body holds and processes stress. She sees this work as especially important within Barbadian society, where many individuals are navigating the ongoing effects of intergenerational trauma.
Since 2017, Natalie has worked within the secondary school system, gaining deep insight into the emotional and social realities facing children and adolescents today. Her approach is grounded in presence and care—offering the kind of steady, attuned support she herself needed at a younger age. Through her work, she helps young people develop emotional awareness, self-regulation, and the capacity to feel more stable, connected, and capable in their lives.
Natalie joins the Acosta Institute Fellowship with a strong commitment to shared learning and meaningful collaboration. She values honest exchange with others who are doing aligned work and appreciates spaces that allow both connection and reflection. During the Fellowship, she hopes to deepen her understanding of trauma-informed practice while continuing to grow as a grounded presence for the young people and communities she serves.
