
Karen Parker Thompson
Karen Parker Thompson is the Co-Founder and Co-Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Educator Diversity Consortium (PEDC), where she leads with purpose and care to transform the educator workforce across the state. With over 25 years in education and a master’s degree in Organization Development, Karen brings a deep understanding of equity-centered systems design, organizational transformation, and leadership rooted in cultural relevance and sustainability.
Her work is driven by a bold vision: to ensure that every student—especially Black and Brown students—has access to educators who reflect their identities and affirm their lived experiences. Through PEDC, Karen cultivates human-centered, relational ecosystems where trust, collaboration, and educator wellness are foundational. She is known for fostering environments that make space for innovation, belonging, and collective impact.
As a Fellow, Karen brings a wealth of wisdom, a collaborative spirit, and an unwavering commitment to justice. She is eager to expand her healing-centered leadership practice alongside others who are reimagining education and community. Whether at work or with her beloved grandchildren, Karen embodies joy, curiosity, and a steady belief in our shared potential to build systems where all can thrive.
