Joy Cosculluela

Joy Cosculluela is a San Francisco–based choreographer, interdisciplinary artist, and movement educator whose work explores the deep relationship between body, creativity, belonging, and land. An immigrant from the Philippines, Joy brings a rich cultural perspective to her work as the Artistic Director of Wayfinding Performance Group, a multicultural ensemble of artists, and Performance Lab SF. Through her artistic practice, she creates spaces where expressive arts, somatic awareness, and collective creativity come together to explore how art and life weave toward transformation and interconnectedness.

Joy’s work centers questions of belonging—where we come from, where we are going, and how we can reshape the stories that have shaped us. Her creative process invites people to engage with curiosity, compassion, and courage as they explore individual and collective relationships through movement and artistic expression. As she continues to grow as both an artist and a leader, Joy is navigating a meaningful threshold in her life, one that asks her to step more fully into her voice and presence in the world while honoring the complexity of that journey.

Through the Acosta Institute Fellowship, Joy is seeking both individual and collective support as she moves through this next chapter of growth. She is inspired by spaces rooted in care, curiosity, and courage, and she looks forward to learning and collaborating alongside fellow participants. During the Fellowship, Joy hopes to deepen her leadership voice while continuing the personal and ancestral journey of reclaiming lineage, unlearning inherited narratives, and embracing the gifts and contradictions that shape her path.
