Elvira Salazar

Elvira Salazar is an educational leader, systems designer, and proud daughter of Mexican immigrant parents who has devoted her career to creating more equitable, inclusive, and innovative learning environments. Currently serving as Director of Online Learning & Technology at Latinos for Education, she leads the national strategy for designing and implementing professional learning experiences that empower educators and uplift Latinx communities across the country.

With a background spanning classroom teaching, instructional technology, and district-level leadership, Elvira brings a powerful blend of systems thinking, cultural awareness, and digital innovation to her work. Her previous roles in Houston-area public schools include Director of Science, Senior Education Technologist, and Instructional Specialist—each one reflecting her commitment to building learning ecosystems that serve all students. She is a first-generation college graduate, holding a B.S. in Biology, an M.S.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Houston, a School Management and Leadership Certificate from Harvard, and most recently, a doctorate in learning design and organizational change from Baylor University.

As a Fellow, Elvira is excited to be in community with others who are reimagining education through the lens of healing, justice, and cultural responsiveness. She brings to the cohort a strong track record of innovation, a deep belief in equity, and a lived commitment to serving the next generation of learners and leaders. Grounded in her family’s story and fueled by a vision for collective transformation, Elvira leads with heart, strategy, and an unwavering hope for what’s possible.
